Seedless fruits are particularly popular
Grapes are the ideal snack in between. They provide valuable energy and also supply the body with minerals such as potassium and calcium, vitamin B6 and folic acid. The fiber and fruit acids contained stimulate intestinal activity, bind toxins and have a positive effect on cholesterol levels. In addition, the antioxidative resveratrol is contained in the skin and the kernels.

Grapes prefer to go straight into the mouth. The fresh fruits can also be used for cakes and jams, fruit salads and green salads. They are the ideal accompaniment to cheese and game and give spicy sauces a special note. Dried as a raisin, they should not be missing in the muesli and in the student food.

The grapevine (Vitis vinifera) is one of the oldest cultivated plants. The berries grow on panicles, are round to oblong in shape and can be greenish, yellow, red or blue to black-blue in color. There are an estimated 16,000 grape varieties that are largely used for wine production. Table grapes are grown worldwide from the temperate zones to the subtropics. Italy is by far the largest producer in the European Union. Seedless grapes are particularly popular for fresh consumption.

Grapes are commercially available all year round, with a peak from August to November. Domestic goods are marketed from August to October and mostly locally. Only undamaged and fully ripe goods should be placed in the shopping basket since the fruits do not ripen. In the refrigerator in a plastic bag, grapes are unwashed and can be kept for up to a week.
